Anomaly Effects came into being in early 2010 when effects artists
Andrew Lavin and Arick Szymecki decidedto officially join forces
and become a predominant force in the Western New York effects industry.
The two met in the spring of 2009 while working on Gregory Lamberson’s “Slime City Massacre”
and quickly became close friends as well as co-workers.
After film’s wrap that summer, they both continued working together,
Arick bringing Andrew into the makeup and effects department at Frightworld,
Buffalo’s premiere haunted attraction, and Andrew bringing Arick into the effects department
of Emil Novak’s zombie anthology “Decayed.”
From there they continued collaborating on multiple projects and became Anomaly Effects.
In the summer of 2010 while working on Gratwick Film’s “The Perfect House”
Arick and Andrew met cosmetic makeup artist Amy Toth, whose impressive talent
and work ethic made inviting her to join the company a very easy decision.
The trio currently all work and reside in the greater Buffalo area.
